The Therapy Process
- The therapy process is unique to each person.
- We focus on topics that are important to you.
- We work together to establish your therapy goals, and we establish a way of meeting those goals in a way that best fits you.
- Sessions may take the form of a conversation, but sometimes we agree to use more structured interventions both during the session, and as 'homework' in between sessions.
- Therapy can be either short-term or longer-term in nature. Some people find relief or resolution to their problem within a few weeks to several months, and enjoy improvements along the way. Others, because of the severity, and/or length of time they have been experiencing the problem, will require longer-term therapy (a minimum of one year). For those requiring longer-term therapy, improvements are also often experienced along the way.
- Typically, sessions occur weekly or every other week until the problem begins to resolve.
- We work together in a safe, accepting, and non-judgemental environment that respects your uniqueness,
comfort level, and pace.
- Matters discussed throughout the counselling process are confidential.
